Baby Golden Conures

Phoenix Zoo:

Our breeding pair of golden conures fledged two chicks last week. This is the third time they have successfully raised chicks since 2014, and the first time they have fledged two chicks in one clutch. The family is housed in an off exhibit area but the chicks will eventually be transferred onto exhibit with their sister in the Gilbert Aviaries near Jaguar.

Golden conures as a species can be easily stressed when breeding, and they have been much more successful since they were moved off exhibit and have fewer disturbances. They are still getting the rest of their feathers in but they can fly and are starting to nibble on adult food.
